RHB at Conferences

We at Reformation Heritage Books love to attend conferences. Not only to sell books, but we enjoy hearing the preaching and teaching of the Word. The following is a post from the Business Manger at RHB, Steve Renkema.

One of the great things about my job is that they make me represent Reformation Heritage Books at a number of conferences.  In the last year I was able to attend, among others, the Ligonier, Desiring God and the PCRT conferences. I was able to hear all the great Reformed men of our day lecture and preach. R.C. Sproul, John MacArthur, John Piper, Al Mohler, Derek Thomas, Steve Lawson, Joel Beeke, Sinclair Ferguson, CJ Mahaney and many others.  I heard them all and was able to talk to many of them personally. But of all the conferences that I attended last year my favorite, by far, was the “Godly Life” conference hosted by New Life Fellowship Church just north of Chicago.  I remember driving down from Grand Rapids not knowing what to expect.  I had only met the conference organizers briefly in my bookstore a few months earlier.  They invited me to do a book table there and I said I would.  Being true to my word, in spite of second thoughts, I stuffed my Honda Accord with books and off I went. At the time I was not familiar with the speakers, Anthony Carter, Thabiti Anyabwile and Pastor Louis Love. I was in for a real treat. They opened God’s word in a powerful way. The preaching of these men brought me to tears. They fed my soul at a time when I was needy, hungry and thirsty. I drank it in as best I could.  But that wasn’t all.
The fellowship at this conference was also precious.  Because it was a small conference with only around 75 in attendance, it was intimate and personal.  I was treated like royalty.  On Friday night, after all the sessions were over, they said “We’re all going to Denny’s.”  It was already late, 11 pm, but we chatted at Denny’s for 2 more hours. Next week, June 19-21, I will be heading back to Chicago to attend this conference.  I have been looking forward to this since I left last year. If you are in the Chicago area I would encourage you to check it out.
